Quando sotto la dominazione di Roma in Sicilia furono costruite le strade di collegamento, la "Consolare Antica", attraversò la pianura e i giardini di Scinà, oggi Gliaca. La "stazione di posta" funzionò fino alla costruzione della ferrovia alla quale furono quindi affidati i servizi postali. I Duchi Denti di Piraino risistemarono ed ampliarono la "stazione di posta" che era in grado di offrire il cambio dei cavalli freschi con quelli stanchi, il vitto e l'alloggio per uomini ed animali per la notte, fecero anche costruire una loro residenza estiva ed una chiesetta dedicata a Santa Rosalia. Di queste due costruzioni nulla è rimasto.

Under the domination of Rome many connecting roads were built in Sicily: the "Consular Antica", crossed the plains and the Scinà gardens, modern day Gliaca. The "coach station" functioned until the construction of the railway. This building was then entrusted to the postal services. The Dukes of Piraino, the Denti family, then restored and expanded this “coach resting station” and was able to offer its journeyers an exchange of fresh horses with the tired ones, meals and accommodation for travellors and their animals. They also built their summer residence here and a church dedicated to Saint Rosalia, although nothing has remained of these two buildings.
